When Cammy GotBarz talks about her career, she doesn’t speak like someone waiting for an
opportunity. She speaks like someone creating.

Every verse, every performance, and every release has been another step toward building a name
on her own terms. There hasn’t been a major label to clear the path or a viral moment to define her
career. Instead, the Pennsylvania-born rapper has relied on consistency, confidence, and a belief
that her story is worth hearing. Those qualities have carried her from Augusta, Georgia, where she
was raised, to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she’s continuing to grow as an independen

For Cammy, music has never been about creating a persona. It’s about documenting.

“I make music that blends confidence, real-life experiences, and raw lyricism,” she says. “Whether
it’s a record to make you feel empowered, turn up with your friends, or relate to something you’ve
been through, I want my music to leave an impression”

Long before audiences knew her as Cammy GotBarz, she was simply Cameo, a nickname
affectionately shortened to ‘Cammy’ by her grandfather. The second half of her stage name came
naturally after listeners kept pointing to one thing above everything else: her bars. Together, the
name represents both the person she is and the artist she’s worked to become.

Her songwriting begins the same way every time. A beat catches her attention. Then comes the
concept. From there, she focuses on writing lyrics that feel authentic while carefully shaping her
cadence and delivery so every verse has its own energy. It’s a process that reflects the versatility
she strives for in every record.

She credits Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Young Dro, Lil Wayne, and Lauryn Hill for helping shape her
creativity, but she’s careful not to imitate anyone. Her goal is to create music that reflects every side
of who she is instead of fitting neatly into one sound.

If there’s one song that captures her outlook on life, it’s ‘Keep Goin.’ On the surface, the record
carries the energy of a club anthem. Underneath, it’s a personal reminder that perseverance
matters more than perfection.

“It’s more than just a song,” Cammy says. “It’s a mindset.”

Behind the music is another role that shapes her every day: motherhood. Like many independent
artists, Cammy balances recording sessions, performances, work, and raising her daughter. The
demands can be overwhelming, but she refuses to let them become excuses. Instead, they have
become motivation.

“My daughter is one of my biggest motivations,” she says. “She reminds me why I keep pushing.”

That perspective also explains why she considers betting on herself to be her greatest
accomplishment. Awards can wait. Streaming numbers will come. What matters most is knowing
she never stopped believing in her own vision.

Looking ahead, Cammy says fans can expect more music, more visuals, and bigger performances
as she continues expanding her brand. Her advice to aspiring artists is simple: invest in yourself,
stay consistent, and don’t wait for someone else’s approval before chasing your dream.

For Cammy GotBarz, success isn’t arriving all at once. It’s being built one song, one performance,
and one opportunity at a time. If her trajectory continues, she’s proving that one of the strongest
investments an artist can make is believing in themselves before the rest of the world catches up.

Atlanta has never lacked star power, but Pluto feels like the kind of new voice that arrives already in motion. With her latest single “Tippy Toes,” the Motown‑signed rapper pushes her West Side bravado into sharper focus, delivering a summer record built to live in clubs, festivals, and timelines without losing the raw personality that got her here in the first place.

Dropped on June 19, 2026, “Tippy Toes” lands at a moment when Pluto’s name is already circulating across viral clips, tour bills, and industry watchlists. Rather than recalibrate or play it safe, she leans harder into the qualities that make her records hard to ignore: direct bars, a wicked sense of humor, and a hook that doubles as a chant.

Turning swagger into a sing‑along

“Tippy Toes” hits with the immediacy of a song you feel before you fully clock the words. Over booming production, Pluto snaps off lines that treat confidence as a given, not a pose. She raps about desire and control with the ease of someone who knows exactly how she wants to be seen, never pausing to apologize or explain.

At the center is a hook designed to lodge itself in your memory:

“Tippy, huh, tippy, uh huh, tippy / I’m trying to f** her on her tippy toes.”

It’s unfiltered and playful, the kind of refrain you can imagine echoing through a packed venue or looping under dance challenges. What could be shock value becomes something closer to a rallying cry; Pluto turns explicit language into a rhythm people can move with, keeping the focus on cadence and attitude rather than on any single word.

A poolside universe built on presence

The “Tippy Toes” video, directed by Rozay 4K, extends the song’s energy into a bright, controlled chaos. Shot around a pool, the visual frames Pluto as the gravitational center of a world where color, motion, and confidence collide. Women in vivid swimwear dance and vibe around her, but the camera keeps circling back to her performance.

The choreography feels loose and contagious rather than over‑rehearsed, underscoring the sense that this is a party first and a set second. Sunlight, water, and neon fabrics turn the frame into pure summer, while Pluto’s delivery anchors the clip, making it clear who owns the moment. It’s less about narrative than about establishing a mood: carefree, loud, and entirely in her control.

From bedroom freestyles to a Motown roster spot

Part of what makes “Tippy Toes” resonate is how clearly it sits within a larger story. Pluto grew up on Atlanta’s West Side, freestyling over YouTube beats as a teenager long before her name landed on industry spreadsheets. That hunger translated into a deal with Motown in March 2025, followed quickly by her debut album Both Ways in June and a deluxe edition in July.

Both Ways introduced her as a writer and performer who knows how to bend familiar reference points into new shapes. “Excuse Me” flipped Lil Wayne’s “6 Foot 7 Foot” into a sharper, more personal statement, while tracks like “Pull Yo Skirt Up” and “WHIM WHAMMIEE” showed how easily she can build hooks that feel custom‑made for crowd interaction. A remix of “WHIM WHAMMIEE” with Sexyy Red pushed that momentum into overdrive, helping her rack up tens of millions of streams, billions of TikTok views, and an audience that spans platforms from YouTube to Spotify.

Co‑signs, tours, and a place in “The New Atlanta”

As her numbers climbed, so did the list of names standing behind her. Pluto now counts Sexyy Red, Young Thug, Latto, and Lizzo among her co‑signs, reinforcement that her appeal cuts across rap’s many sub‑lanes. A run on Lil Baby’s WHAM Tour gave fans a chance to see how her records play out on big stages, and the answer was clear: the energy they feel online translates in person.

The industry has kept pace. Billboard tapped her as Rookie of the Month, while Spotify, Pandora, and Amazon all flagged her as an Artist to Watch for 2026. She wrapped her first headlining PLUTO WORLD Tour, then stepped onto larger platforms like the I Got My Tickets Spring Break Concert Festival, sharing bills with G Herbo, Kodak Black, and YFN Lucci.

Perhaps most telling is her role in Spotify’s documentary The New Atlanta, which spotlights four women reshaping the city’s rap narrative. There, Pluto isn’t framed as an outlier; she’s presented as part of a new center of gravity, one that insists Atlanta’s future will sound different because more women are holding the mic.

Why “Tippy Toes” feels like a checkpoint, not just a single

Seen inside this arc, “Tippy Toes” feels less like a spontaneous drop and more like a statement of where Pluto stands right now. The track distills her core strengths—fearlessness, humor, a sharp ear for hooks—into a tight package built for repeat listening. It sits naturally next to records like “WHIM WHAMMIEE” and “Excuse Me,” yet it pushes her further toward a bright, festival‑scale sound that still feels rooted in Atlanta’s club DNA.

Crucially, the single refuses to sand down the parts of her persona that might make some listeners blush. Pluto doesn’t soften the language or mute the sexuality; instead, she leans into both, turning them into rhythm and attitude rather than shock tactics. In a rap landscape where women still fight for space to be loud, explicit, and joyful on their own terms, “Tippy Toes” functions as both a flex and a line in the sand.

For Pluto, this is another step in a climb that already looks steep. For Atlanta rap, it’s one more reminder that the city’s next wave of stars will arrive with their own rulebooks—and that Pluto plans to write hers in all caps.

Major Lazer are back in high gear. In 2026, the Diplo‑led collective move like a global pop machine, and their new single “pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” captures that momentum. The track teams them with Dominican star Tokischa, blending her raw dembow energy with Major Lazer’s heavy bass and festival‑scale hooks.

Released June 24, 2026, the song lands during a busy year of performances, sports events, and festival dates. It feels built for main stages and desert nights, but it still carries the wild spirit of a small club show. That balance is what has always made Major Lazer stand out.

From a Miami lot to Ultra and Coachella

“pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” started as a live secret. Before the single hit streaming platforms, Major Lazer teased it at shows and pop‑ups around the world. One of the most memorable was a surprise set in an abandoned lot in Miami. Only around 200 fans made it there, but they watched the song grow in real time, from a new idea into a crowd‑shaking moment.

Tokischa soon moved from studio collaborator to live partner. She joined Major Lazer for the song’s first full performance at their headline set at Ultra. The track hit hard and immediately felt like part of the group’s core live arsenal. Later, she appeared on the main stage at Coachella, performing “pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” in front of more than 80,000 people. Those early performances turned the single into a talking point long before the official release.

Desert visions and pop‑up footage

After Coachella, the team headed deeper into the desert to shoot the official video. Directors Cambron Lyles and Alex Ferzan built a visual that mixes surreal desert scenes with real footage from the Miami pop‑up. Sand, bright lights, and fast cuts give the clip a dreamlike feel, while the crowd shots remind viewers that Major Lazer’s music starts on the ground, not just on the charts.

Tokischa and the group move through the landscape in vivid styling, surrounded by dancers and flashes of choreography. The video watches how the track travels—from speakers to bodies and from club energy to cinematic scale. It shows the link between Major Lazer’s small, chaotic shows and their huge festival sets.

A touring show built as a traveling party

The single arrives as Major Lazer return to full‑scale touring for the first time in seven years. In 2026, they have already lit up Governors Ball and Bonnaroo, bringing “pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” into sets packed with their biggest hits. The new show treats every date like a moving carnival.

Creative director Mike Carson leads the stage design and pacing. The result is a production that looks and feels like a giant party rather than a standard DJ set. Choreographers Sara Bivens and Calvit Hodge create routines for eight dancers, filling the stage with motion to match the beats. Lights, visuals, and movement push the energy to a level that fits arenas and large festival fields.

Each stop turns local fans into part of the broader Major Lazer universe.

Olympics, World Cup, and a global spotlight

This year is not just about festivals. Major Lazer also step onto some of the biggest stages in sports. Early in 2026, they played a centerpiece performance at the Closing Ceremony of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, bringing their sound and dance‑driven show to a worldwide TV audience.

They then moved into football’s global spotlight. With Nelly Furtado and Davido, the group created “No Place Like Home,” one of the official songs for the FIFA World Cup. Davido joined them at the World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles, where they performed the track live as millions watched. For a project born in clubs and small venues, performing at both the Olympics and the World Cup in the same year marks a major step.

GYALGEBRA and a refreshed lineup

“pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” follows the 2025 mixtape GYALGEBRA, which opened a new chapter for Major Lazer. That project introduced America Foster, a London‑raised multi‑hyphenate, as the group’s latest member. Her verses power five tracks on the mixtape, adding a new voice to the mix alongside Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums.

GYALGEBRA also pulled in a wide circle of collaborators. Iconic choreographer Parris Goebel, Toronto artist SadBoi, soca legend Bunji Garlin, and others helped push the music into new directions. The project showed that Major Lazer still treat dance music as a global language. “pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” carries that same spirit forward, tying Tokischa’s scene to the group’s long‑running mission.

A catalog that already changed pop

All of this builds on years of work. Major Lazer’s catalog holds some of the most defining songs of the streaming era. “Lean On” reshaped global pop and remains one of the most played tracks of all time. “Cold Water” reached four‑times Platinum, and “Light It Up” went double Platinum. Along the way, the group have teamed up with stars such as Beyoncé, J Balvin, WizKid, El Alfa, Burna Boy, Travis Scott, and Ariana Grande.

That history gives “pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” context. The single does not chase nostalgia or repeat old formulas. Instead, it uses the group’s strengths—big hooks, hybrid rhythms, and cross‑border features—to speak to now. Tokischa’s presence brings a sharper, dirtier edge, reflecting the current wave of Caribbean and Latin club music.

What “pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” means for Major Lazer now

Put together, the new single, the desert video, the tour, and the sports‑event performances show where Major Lazer sit in 2026. They work as more than a trio of producers. They move as a global live force, with dancers, visuals, and guests turning every set into an event.

“pAPi wiTH tOKisCha” sits at the heart of that story. Fans first heard it blasting from speakers in a Miami lot, then saw it explode on Ultra and Coachella stages, and now stream it alongside older hits. As the group crosses continents through festivals and televised events, this track sounds like the pulse of their current takeover: loud, borderless, and built for anyone ready to move.

New York, NY – U.K.‑born R&B/pop artist Shehxna is in motion in every sense. Her new single “Body in Motion,” builds on growing international momentum and marks a brand new chapter in her career. The track blends smooth R&B melodies with a little pop, high‑energy sound.

The record was produced in New York by Luca Beats, Teeupzayy, and John C Majic. Together, they crafted polished production around a commanding hook: “You got my body in motion, it’s on me / there’s no limit baby take it full speed.” The song captures control, desire, and unapologetic confidence and is designed to move people both emotionally and physically.

A Defining Moment For Her Sound

With this release, Shehxna leans fully into who she is as an artist. She merges storytelling with a sort of self‑assured presence. that resonates across borders.

Building Global Momentum

Her momentum is not limited to streaming platforms. A recent Nike Air Max campaign placed her across billboards in New York City, with talks underway to bring her music into global campaigns. She has already taken over stages from the MVP Arena in New York to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in the U.K., and she has performed at SXSW in Texas and recorded at London’s iconic Maida Vale Studios. Recognized as a Rising Star by BBC Asian Network and highlighted by outlets including HI Magazine Sri Lanka, she is fast becoming a standout voice who bridges cultures and sounds.

Her earlier releases, including “Jaded Love” and “Lover Girl” from her 4 Missed Calls EP, earned national U.K. airplay on BBC Radio, Kiss FM, and Capital FM and landed her on the GrammyU Winter Playlist with Grammy consideration. Those songs showcased her emotional depth and vulnerability. “Body in Motion” shows that same heart, but turned toward freedom, joy, and self‑belief.

Recognized as a Rising Star by BBC Asian Network and highlighted by HI Magazine Sri Lanka, she is fast becoming a standout voice who bridges cultures and sounds. Her story is rooted in risk and commitment. She has been singing her whole life, and at 18 she left everything to move to New York and chase music full‑time. That leap sits behind every record she makes.

After the release of the single, we spoke with Shehxna about the inspiration, the process, and what comes next.

Q&A: Inside “Body in Motion” With Shehxna

Q: What inspired you to create “Body in Motion”?

Shehxna: “Body in Motion” came from wanting to create a feeling. I wanted to make a record that captured that moment when you’re fully present and letting go of everything else around you.

Q: What does this song represent in your current chapter as an artist?

Shehxna: This song represents freedom and confidence. I feel like I’m entering a new chapter where I’m becoming more comfortable with who I am as an artist and not being afraid to explore different sides of myself.

Q: How does “Body in Motion” differ from your previous releases?

Shehxna: A lot of my previous music has been centered around heartbreak, love, and storytelling from a more vulnerable place. “Body in Motion” still has that emotional honesty, but it’s more about enjoying the present and embracing yourself. It’s a feel‑good record that allows people to experience a different energy from me.

Q: Can you walk us through the creative process behind the record?

Shehxna: The process was really organic. The song started with the feeling we wanted to create—something soulful, relatable, and something people could move to. Working with Luca Beats, Teeupzayy, and John C. Majic was a dream because everyone brought a different perspective and helped shape the record. We built the song around the idea of creating a space where people could feel free and confident.

Q: Is there a lyric or message in the song that holds special meaning to you?

Shehxna: One of the biggest things for me is the overall message of letting yourself feel good and be present. I think as artists, and honestly just as people, we can put so much pressure on ourselves that we forget to enjoy the journey. This song reminds me to celebrate where I am right now.

Q: What emotions were you hoping listeners would experience when hearing the track?

Shehxna: I want people to feel confident, happy, and free. Whether you’re listening while getting ready, driving, going out with friends, or just having a moment by yourself, I want the song to make you feel like you can step into your own energy and be yourself.

Q: What was it like working with Luca Beats, Teeupzayy, and John C. Majic?

Shehxna: It was such a special experience. They each brought something unique to the record, from the production choices to the energy in the room. They understood the vision and helped create a sound that felt authentic to me while also pushing me creatively. I love working with people who aren’t just making a song, but are helping build a feeling.

Q: What do you think fans will be most surprised by when they hear “Body in Motion”?

Shehxna: I think people will be surprised by the energy and the confidence of the record. My audience knows me for emotional storytelling, so this is a chance for them to see another side of me.

Q: If someone is discovering your music for the first time through this song, what do you hope they learn about you as an artist?
Shehxna: I want people to know my journey and story as an artist. I’ve been singing my whole life and at 18 decided to leave everything and move to New York to chase my dream as an artist. There is so much story and emotion behind all my music and I want people to know me for my grind and how I even got to making music.

Q: What’s next for you following the release of “Body in Motion”?

Shehxna: I’m continuing to build and share more of my world as an artist. There’s a lot more music coming, more performances, and more opportunities to connect with people. “Body in Motion” is just one piece of this next chapter, and I’m excited for people to see where I take it.

With “Body in Motion,” Shehxna proves she is not just arriving but leveling up. The single captures where she is right now, confident, focused, and unafraid to take risks, while also hinting at how much more is still to come. As her story stretches from her roots in the United Kingdom to New York billboards and global stages, this record feels like a powerful preview of the era she is about to step into.

The BET Awards have always been more than a trophy show. They are a snapshot of Black culture in real time—music, film, television, sports, and fashion under one roof. In 2026, that idea felt stronger than ever. The ceremony returned to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and delivered a mix of big performances, emotional tributes, and headline‑making wins that kept fans talking long after the credits rolled.

Hosted by comedian Druski, this year’s show balanced jokes and heart. His style kept the room loose, yet never undercut the weight of the stories being told onstage. Between segments, he moved easily from sharp one‑liners to warm shoutouts, helping the night feel like a giant, slightly chaotic family gathering rather than a stiff awards telecast.

A stage built to celebrate Black excellence

From the opening frames, the BET Awards leaned into its role as “Culture’s Biggest Night.” Artists and actors arrived to a packed red carpet, with cameras focused not just on who was there, but on how they chose to show up. Every look felt intentional. Some guests went classic and glamorous. Others used fashion to make statements, show personality, or nod to past eras in Black music and film.

Inside the theater, the production pushed for scale without losing intimacy. Lighting, staging, and video screens shifted across performances, giving each act a distinct mood. The show’s pacing kept momentum high: short speeches, tight transitions, and the steady drumbeat of new winners helped viewers stay locked in from start to finish.

Wins that show where the culture is now

The awards themselves told a story about where Black entertainment stands in 2026. In music, heavy hitters and rising voices shared the spotlight. Cardi B took home Best Female Hip Hop Artist, underscoring how she continues to shape mainstream rap with both chart success and cultural impact. R&B and alternative acts also landed major trophies, reflecting a scene where genre lines blur and emotional honesty matters as much as vocal runs.

Breakout talent got its shine as well. Emerging artists stepped onto the stage as nominees and winners, showing that BET is still committed to finding and lifting up new voices. For your media site, these categories are key traffic drivers—fans often search for “BET Awards winners” and “Best New Artist BET Awards” in the hours and days after the show, looking to see who the industry is backing.

Lauryn Hill’s legacy moment

One of the night’s most powerful sections came when Lauryn Hill received a career honor. The tribute framed her as more than a nostalgia act. It recognized her as a central architect of modern hip hop and soul. Performances of her songs and testimonials from artists who grew up on her work painted a picture of a legacy that is still active, not frozen in the past.

For readers, this kind of segment taps into emotion and history. It invites long‑time fans to remember when they first heard her records and offers younger audiences a chance to connect the dots between today’s music and the albums that shaped it. On your site, leaning into this moment with pull‑quotes and context about Hill’s impact can keep engagement high, especially on social.

Performances that kept the energy high

Performances have always been the heartbeat of the BET Awards, and 2026 kept that tradition intact. Established artists used the show to debut new material or bring familiar hits back with fresh arrangements. Some sets felt like mini concerts. Others played more like intimate confessionals, with stripped‑down instrumentation and closer camera work.

Several rising acts treated their time onstage as a statement of arrival. They brought careful choreography, sharp live bands, and visual concepts designed to stick in viewers’ minds. For fans who might not follow every new release, these performances served as a quick education: this is who you should be watching next.

If you want strong traffic from performance coverage, consider breaking out short companion posts or clips for each set—“Best BET Awards Performances 2026,” “Top 5 Moments From the BET Awards Stage,” and similar headlines tend to attract search and social interest.

Fashion as a second stage

The red carpet is now as important as the main show, and the 2026 BET Awards proved that again. Artists, actors, and influencers arrived in looks that ranged from high couture to street‑ready fits. Some outfits paid tribute to classic Black style icons. Others pushed into new territory with bold silhouettes, unexpected color choices, or creative tailoring.

Coverage that treats fashion as storytelling can do very well with your audience. Instead of simply listing “best dressed,” you can frame style as another way performers express identity—how one artist chose vintage‑inspired glam to honor earlier generations, while another leaned into futuristic design to match the sound of their music. Short galleries, “hits and misses” lists, and breakdowns of specific standout looks are all strong options to drive page views and shares.

Why the BET Awards still matter in 2026

After more than two decades, some awards shows struggle to stay relevant. The BET Awards continue to matter because they keep their focus clear: celebrate Black creativity on its own terms. The show does not avoid hard topics, but it also refuses to let pain be the only story. In 2026, joy, humor, critique, and gratitude all shared the stage.

On “Luh Mo’ Love,” rising artist EJ Jones delivers more than a memorable single. He presents love as a source of healing, resilience, and connection in a world that often feels divided. Released on June 19, 2026, through Quality Control Music, the song and accompanying visual draw from the tradition of socially conscious soul music that helped define artists like Marvin Gaye, while introducing Jones as a fresh and distinctive voice. Driven by a smooth mid-tempo groove, the record highlights his talents as both a songwriter and producer, pairing heartfelt lyrics with infectious melodies that invite listeners to reflect, relate, and sing along.

From its opening moments, “Luh Mo’ Love” emerges as a heartfelt reflection on the state of human connection in a world often marked by division and uncertainty. Rather than escaping reality, EJ Jones confronts it head-on, encouraging listeners to lower their emotional walls and embrace genuine vulnerability. Through lyrics such as, “Listen, you find a good love you got to keep it / Tell me why we gotta act hard, like we don’t need it,” Jones challenges the notion that strength requires emotional distance. Instead, he makes a compelling case for love as a source of healing, reminding listeners that authentic connection remains one of life’s greatest necessities.

A personal history turned into public testimony

Jones’s insistence on love carries extra weight when you consider the verses where he sketches his own biography. “I lost my mama to the streets / I lost my daddy to the streets… I got every reason to be mad at the whole world,” he admits, folding years of pain into a few unflinching lines. In another context, that history might lead to a hardened persona or a revenge fantasy. Here, it becomes proof that embracing love is a choice, not a given.

Instead of indulging in bitterness, Jones pushes against it. He asks listeners to resist the “temptations of hate” and to choose connection and empathy instead. The phrasing recalls classic protest soul, yet the delivery feels contemporary, steeped in the vocabulary of everyday struggle. As a result, “Luh Mo’ Love” lands somewhere between hymn and street‑corner confession.

A visual language of choice, faith, and community

The music video for “Luh Mo’ Love” expands the song’s themes into a stark visual metaphor. Jones moves through a dangerous, black‑and‑white world where people face a series of hateful choices, each framed as a crossroads. This monochrome space represents what happens when fear and anger go unchecked: the frame narrows, color drains away, and violence becomes the default.

Then, the video shifts. A second world appears, this time infused with color, faith, and resilience—an explicit nod to Jones’s church upbringing. In that version of the neighborhood, community members organize a block party; music, dancing, and shared joy take the place of confrontation. Jones doesn’t romanticize the setting, but he suggests that collective celebration is itself an act of resistance. The contrast between the two worlds drives home the song’s central thesis: given a choice between hate and love, you can decide which one shapes your environment.

From viral covers to Quality Control Music

“Luh Mo’ Love” arrives at what the press materials describe as “the peak of a sharp ascent,” and the timeline backs that up. Last year, Jones shared a viral cover of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” a performance that caught the attention of Quality Control Music co‑founder Kevin “Coach K” Lee and ultimately led to his signing with the label. Soon after, a widely shared rendition of Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do for Love” and standout appearances on From the Block and Cadillac Chronicles solidified his reputation as a musician’s musician with broad appeal.

Those early moments showed that Jones could inhabit canonical material without flattening it. He treated Cooke and Caldwell as starting points rather than safe covers, pushing his voice into spaces where vulnerability and virtuosity intersect. In turn, the label recognized the possibility of building a modern soul career around a singer whose instincts lean toward purpose, not just polish.

“Gas Station Love” and a breakout year

The foundation laid by those covers set up a breakout run that culminated in Jones’s 2025 single “Gas Station Love.” The track crossed 30 million streams, a striking number for an emerging artist working in a lane that often lives just outside the mainstream. A remix with multi‑platinum rapper BigxthaPlug pushed the song even further, while the single broke into the top 15 of Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs, Adult R&B Airplay, and Rhythmic Airplay charts.

Industry recognition followed. Jones earned spots on Billboard, Complex, and Pandora Artists to Watch lists for 2026, and YouTube named him a Trending Artist on the Rise. On the live circuit, he translated that momentum into a slot on the Blues Is Alright Tour in spring 2026, holding his own alongside established soul names like King George, Tucka, and Lenny Williams. Across platforms, his social following has now surged past one million.

Together, these milestones frame “Luh Mo’ Love” not as an isolated statement but as part of a deliberate narrative: an artist with deep roots in classic soul, moving steadily toward a larger stage.

“The Chosen Child” and the next chapter of modern soul

As Jones finishes work on his first full project, the press notes describe the 23‑year‑old as “The Chosen Child,” a phrase that captures both the weight of expectation and the sense of destiny that surrounds his story. He grew up steeped in Memphis’s rich soul traditions, and that heritage is audible in his spirited vocals and the emotional directness of his writing.

“Luh Mo’ Love” takes that legacy and points it forward. Rather than mimic the past, Jones uses familiar building blocks—church‑bred melisma, conversational lyricism, and groove‑driven instrumentation—to advance what the release calls a classic American sound for a new generation. In doing so, he joins a small but growing cohort of artists who treat soul not as a nostalgia vehicle but as a living language for talking about grief, survival, and community.

For listeners, the entry point is simple: start with the single, then let the video tell the rest of the story. For the soul genre, “Luh Mo’ Love” hints at a future where chart success and moral urgency can share the same space.

Sony Music Latin kicks off the summer with a stacked #NewMusicFriday slate. The release blends legendary names with new‑generation talent across pop, regional Mexican, and Latin urban sounds. This drop includes a reimagined classic from Ricky Martin and Luan Santana, an ambitious new album by Mon Laferte, and key releases from Joel De La P with Chuyito, TRUENO with Milo J, and Said Norzagaray alongside Kane Rodriguez.

Ricky Martin & Luan Santana revive a 90s classic with “Estranho”

More than 30 years after “Te Extraño, Te Olvido, Te Amo” first hit the airwaves, Ricky Martin returns to the 1995 hit with a bold update. The new version, titled “Estranho,” arrives in Portuguese and features Brazilian superstar Luan Santana. In it, Martin keeps the original emotional core but adds a nostalgic twist. The track now blends its pop heart with sertanejo, the rural Brazilian genre often compared to American country music.

By changing languages, Martin salutes one of his most loyal fan bases. He explains that recording in Portuguese feels “especially meaningful” because of the love and support he has always received from Brazil. As a result, “Estranho” offers longtime followers and new listeners a fresh gateway into one of his signature ballads.

Mon Laferte expands her universe on “Femme Fatale Vol. 2”

Meanwhile, Chilean powerhouse Mon Laferte marks a milestone with her tenth studio album, “FEMME FATALE VOL. 2.” The project continues the story she started on Volume 1 in October 2025. Here she delivers 20 new tracks, all written by Laferte and co‑produced with Manu Jalil. Musically, the album leans into a cinematic, theatrical sound yet still rests on her raw, confessional songwriting.

On the lyrical side, Laferte builds a universe around several feminine archetypes. These figures can appear in different women or coexist inside one person: the bride, the beauty queen, the mysterious figure, and the unapologetic diva. In addition, the album features three notable collaborations. Fans will hear “While I’ll Keep Writing Songs For You” with St. Vincent, “Eterno Resplandor De Una Mente Sin Recuerdos” with Javiera Electra, and “Quién Soy Cuando No Estoy Contigo” with GRTSCH. The campaign pushes “A Pesar de Ti y de Mi” as the main focus track.

Joel De La P and Chuyito capture border life on “La Frontera”

On the regional Mexican front, singer‑songwriter Joel De La P (also known as Joe De La P) returns four months after releasing “Las Trincheras.” His new single “La Frontera” features Chuyito and dives into life along the U.S.–Mexico border. This track takes the form of a corrido tumbado, a style that fits its vivid storytelling.

Through sharp and direct lyrics, Joel De La P describes a landscape under heavy surveillance. Different forces watch the region from both sides of the line. Because of this, “La Frontera” portrays the border as a place of constant tension, with its own codes, loyalties, and rules that outsiders rarely see.

TRUENO and Milo J tackle migration and identity in “PUMAS”

At the same time, Argentine rapper TRUENO, a multi‑platinum artist and two‑time Latin GRAMMY winner, shares the official video for “PUMAS.” The track is a standout collaboration with fellow Argentine star Milo J and appears on his fourth studio album TURR4ZO. The video, filmed on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, comes from director duo Clemente Bruzzone and Agustín Puente of The Movement, who also crafted the visuals for “TURRAZO” and “X UNAS LLANTAS.”

In “PUMAS,” TRUENO focuses on migration and on what it means to represent Argentina around the world. To deepen that message, he weaves in samples from two Latin American classics: “No soy de aquí, ni soy de allá” by Facundo Cabral and “Cuando Llora Mi Guitarra” by Chaqueño Palavecino. Thanks to these references, his modern sound stays firmly linked to a richer musical tradition.

Said Norzagaray and Kane Rodriguez deliver nocturnal corrido “Shorty”

Finally, Mexican singer‑songwriter Said Norzagaray closes the lineup with “Shorty,” a corrido tumbado featuring Kane Rodriguez. Together, they tell the story of a man who moves in the shadows. He enjoys quiet luxury, spends long nights in clubs, and falls under the spell of a woman he cannot resist.

Director Toño Tzintzun turns that storyline into a visual narrative set inside an exclusive club. In the video, Norzagaray and Rodriguez appear surrounded by mysterious, sensual figures. Each scene closely reflects the lyrics, which helps the viewer feel the song’s mix of danger, glamour, and obsession.

A snapshot of where Latin music is headed

Overall, this #NewMusicFriday shows how wide Sony Music Latin’s reach has become. A global pop icon revisits a classic in a new language. A boundary‑pushing songwriter expands her cinematic universe. Regional Mexican voices document life at the border. Urban innovators explore identity, migration, and nightlife through corridos tumbados and rap. Together, they offer a clear glimpse of where Latin music is heading next.

For more information, promo assets, or media requests, Sony Music US Latin directs inquiries to Oscar Porras, Associate Director of Communications & Publicity, and to the Miami‑based PR agency Eighteen10.

In JHart’s new single “Memories,” the GRAMMY‑nominated songwriter steps deeper into his own spotlight. The track opens a warm, ’70s‑inspired chapter built on live musicianship and a rare feeling in breakup songs: gratitude.

The single arrives as the first taste of a run of new music he has been quietly building. It follows years of work for artists like Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Troye Sivan, Usher, Durand Bernarr and Tate McRae. It also picks up the thread of his 2023 debut EP, The Wishing, The Wanting, The Longing. Where that project introduced his voice as a frontman, “Memories” sounds like the moment he starts writing first for himself.

A ’70s palette with modern clarity

“Memories” lives in a lane that fans of 1970s yacht rock and soft‑soul records will recognize. It never feels like a pure throwback, though. The production leans into live‑sounding drums, rounded bass lines and warm guitars. Keys and soft backing vocals sit at the edges and leave space in the middle for his lead.

The tempo stays in an easy mid‑tempo pocket. It is not a slow ballad and not a club track. That pace leaves room for detail. You can hear the space between the kick and snare and the way the chords lift under the chorus. His phrasing opens up on key lines. The track feels built for late‑night drives and careful replays, not just quick‑hit playlists.

“Post‑breakup gratitude” instead of heartbreak

Lyrically, “Memories” flips the usual breakup story. JHart has described the song as coming from “post‑breakup gratitude.” He sings from a space between nostalgia and closure. Instead of replaying every hurt or assigning blame, he focuses on what the relationship gave him while it lasted.

That angle gives the song a quiet power. Lines about looking back on shared moments do not drip with anger. They sound like someone leafing through old photos and smiling at what they meant. There is still ache in how he delivers certain phrases. It is the ache of something cherished, not something ruined.

He also leaves space for doubt. He wonders if the other person feels the same mix of gratitude and sadness. That question keeps “Memories” from turning into a simple thank‑you note. It stays emotionally honest without pretending that acceptance removes vulnerability.

A songwriter stepping into a new frame

For listeners who know him mainly as a writer, “Memories” works as a mission statement. JHart is a seven‑time Billboard No. 1 hitmaker with a deep list of credits. His songs have helped power records by Justin Bieber, Usher, Troye Sivan, Kylie Minogue, Muni Long, Keith Urban, Cher, ILLENIUM, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae and more. He also earned a recent GRAMMY nomination for co‑writing Durand Bernarr’s “Overqualified” in the Best R&B Song category.

The new single tilts the camera. Instead of aiming his pen at other artists’ lives, he uses the same craft to sharpen his own story. That shift started on The Wishing, The Wanting, The Longing, where songs like “Ripe” and “If There Really Is a God” made a case for him as a solo singer. “Memories” feels more focused. There are fewer production tricks and more weight on voice, melody and the angle of the lyric.

His performance backs that up. He sings with control but lets some edges stay loose. You can hear the writer in how he lands key words. You can hear the artist in how he lets other lines blur and breathe.

A global perspective behind the sound

JHart’s path helps explain the blend of influences. Born in London, raised in Atlanta and now based in Los Angeles, he carries both British pop precision and American soul in his writing. That mix shows up in the balance of hook‑driven structure and feel‑first groove on “Memories.”

He has tested his songs on stages as well. He has performed worldwide alongside Kygo. Across his work as an artist and writer, his catalog has quietly crossed the 100‑million‑stream mark. His appearance on Netflix’s series Hitmakers also gave fans a look at his process and helped expand his profile beyond songwriting credits.

That visibility has come with purpose. JHart uses his platform to talk about authenticity and LGBTQ+ visibility. He also supports emerging queer talent. A song like “Memories,” grounded in honest reflection and emotional maturity, fits that mission.

Setting the tone for what comes next

As a first release in a new cycle, “Memories” does a lot of work. It introduces a more nostalgic, soul‑baring sound built around live instruments. It sketches out a lyrical lane — post‑breakup gratitude instead of devastation — that feels specific and widely relatable. It reframes JHart less as the name in the liner notes and more as a fully formed artist whose own stories can carry a record.

If the rest of his upcoming music follows the path this single lays down, JHart’s next chapter will likely lean harder into ’70s warmth, classic songwriting and grown‑up storytelling. For now, “Memories” stands as a strong opening scene: a mid‑tempo, yacht‑rock‑shaded reminder that sometimes the most powerful song you can write about an ex is the one that simply says, “Thank you.”

Global breakout artist Tanis is opening her 2026 with a statement. Her new single “The Bad One” arrives as her first release of the year and marks a bold next step after the success of her 2025 EP Just some stories. Framed by alt‑pop textures, hushed electronic percussion and a close‑mic vocal, the track leans into emotional risk instead of easy resolution. It sounds like someone who has decided to stop polishing the rough edges out of her stories.

From the first line, Tanis sets the tone. “I know I’m no angel, but my dear you weren’t a saint,” she sings, cutting straight into the gray area at the end of a relationship. Instead of offering a clean breakup narrative, she sits in the mess and lets the contradictions breathe. The result feels like the natural evolution of an artist who has learned how to turn private chaos into pop songs that still feel strangely comforting.

Alt‑pop with teeth and intimacy

Sonically, “The Bad One” lives in that sweet spot between indie and mainstream alt‑pop. Tanis sings over a bed of warm synths, subtle guitar tones and soft, detailed percussion. The production gives her voice room to breathe. Nothing fights for attention. Instead, each element pushes her storytelling to the front and keeps the focus on the emotional line she is walking.

The song places her comfortably alongside artists such as HAIM and Maggie Rogers. You hear the same mix of live‑band energy and modern pop sheen, that sense of organic instruments moving inside a tight, current sound. At the same time, Tanis keeps the focus on intimacy. The vocal sits close, almost conversational, which makes the song feel like a late‑night confession rather than a broad stadium anthem.

As the track builds, the arrangement adds texture without losing clarity. Small rhythmic shifts, extra harmonies and little melodic hooks keep it moving forward. It is the kind of song you can put on repeat and still notice new details in the background on the third or fourth listen.

Flipping the breakup script

Lyrically, “The Bad One” digs into a feeling a lot of people know but rarely say out loud: what happens when you become “the villain” in someone else’s story. Tanis sings about not being left on good terms after a breakup and getting cast as the person at fault. Lines like “you can be the good one baby / I can be the bad one” flip the usual script. Instead of fighting for control of the narrative, she hands it over on purpose.

That choice runs through the whole lyric. She frames accountability as a kind of gift. “You can blame the whole thing on me / if it helps you feel free,” she offers, turning self‑blame into a way to let the other person move on. The song becomes a self‑aware confession, but not the usual guilty plea. It is closer to emotional negotiation, where one person chooses to carry the story so the other can finally set it down.

What makes it land is the admission of imperfection. “I know I’m no angel / I know that I made a mistake” anchors the track in reality. Tanis does not present herself as a flawless victim, yet she also refuses to accept a simple hero‑versus‑villain frame. The lyric holds both truths at once and invites listeners to sit there with her.

Owning the role of “the bad one”

In talking about the song, Tanis has been clear about this theme. She notes that there are always two sides to every story and that they can look very different depending on who tells them. In her mind, she might be the honorable protagonist of her own life. In someone else’s replay of the same relationship, she may be the villain, the bad one.

“The Bad One” leans into that tension. By playing the part of the so‑called villain, she takes some of the sting out of it. The performance feels less like surrender and more like control. She decides how to inhabit the role instead of letting it be forced on her in silence. That nuance gives the track a grown‑up edge, far from simple blame songs or revenge fantasies that only point one way.

That approach also taps into a wider, modern pop conversation. Listeners are used to songs about empowerment and songs about heartbreak, but there are fewer tracks that sit in the uncomfortable space where you are both right and wrong at the same time. Tanis uses that space to explore what it means to let someone else find closure even if it complicates how you look on paper.

A self‑made identity behind the music

Part of why all of this resonates is the path Tanis has taken to get here. She comes from three continents, speaks four languages and grew up moving between very different cultures. Instead of treating that background as a fixed label, she has used it to build a self‑made identity. Her story is less about where she “belongs” on a map and more about who she chooses to be from this point forward.

Just some stories introduced that perspective through a series of vignettes about love, loss and finding your footing. Those songs hinted at a writer who watched the world from several angles at once. “The Bad One” pushes it further. You can hear an artist who knows she does not have to fit into a single box or backstory. She sounds comfortable owning the contradictions and turning them into a language of her own.

That global background also shows up in the details. The lyrics carry a mix of directness and careful phrasing. The melodies feel built to travel, able to sit on a festival stage, a late‑night club set or a headphones‑only playlist. The production avoids trends that will date it too fast, which helps the song feel like part of a longer arc rather than a quick pivot.

A first single that hints at more

As a first single of 2026, “The Bad One” does more than recap where Tanis has been. It hints at a more daring chapter ahead. The production feels confident. The narrative voice sounds sharper. The emotional stakes are higher. She is not just telling “some stories” anymore; she is interrogating the stories themselves and her place inside them.

If this track is a sign of what comes next, Tanis is stepping into her most unapologetic era so far. She is willing to admit mistakes, accept the “bad one” label when it shows up and still claim her own perspective. That mix of vulnerability and control is exactly what makes her one to watch as the year unfolds—and why “The Bad One” feels less like a one‑off single and more like the opening scene of her next chapter.

Jay‑Z Roots Picnic 2026 wasn’t just another festival booking. It marked his first major public performance in years. At 56, he turned the Philadelphia stage into a focused career showcase. He dropped a sharp new freestyle and dug into deep cuts.He brought out surprise guests to share the moment. With a live band behind him, his catalog hit like scripture.

A rare return built up in advance

Roots Picnic 2026 at Belmont Plateau already carried weight but Jay‑Z on a festival flyer is rare. This was his first solo headlining performance in years. In the months before the show, he quietly set the stage. He switched his name on streaming back to JAŸ‑Z and began methodically updating his catalog, tightening how older singles, radio edits and deep cuts appear on digital platforms.

By the time he stepped onstage in Philadelphia, anticipation felt closer to a one‑night residency than a typical festival slot. The Roots Picnic crowd showed up knowing they were seeing something that doesn’t happen often: a Jay‑Z show not tied to an album rollout, arena tour or corporate tie‑in. He treated that freedom like a chance to play historian and antagonist at the same time.

Jay‑Z Roots Picnic 2026 set turns into a 30‑song career run

Jay‑Z didn’t treat the night like a quick hits‑only appearance. His set stretched past 30 songs and cut across eras instead of staying locked into one lane. He opened with older material and freestyles, then worked through records like “U Don’t Know,” “Where I’m From,” “Can I Live,” “Dead Presidents,” “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” “Excuse Me Miss,” “La La La,” “Roc Boys,” “Public Service Announcement” and more.

The sequencing felt intentional. Rather than front‑loading the biggest radio singles and coasting, he grouped songs by mood and moment — hungry mid‑’90s storytelling, early‑2000s Roc‑A‑Fella dominance, widescreen Watch the Throne‑era anthems. With The Roots backing him, familiar instrumentals hit different: drums sat heavier, horns stretched out, and certain grooves were allowed to build in a way that rarely happens on tightly timed arena runs.

For casual listeners, the set played like a crash course in why his catalog sits where it does. For lifers, it felt like a reward — the kind of night where deep cuts live right next to chart‑toppers without a drop in energy.

The freestyle: score‑settling without saying names out loud

The moment that exploded online didn’t come from an old classic. Mid‑set, Jay‑Z stopped the band and launched into a new a cappella freestyle, a verse that immediately started ricocheting across social feeds once fan clips went up. The tone was calm but cutting. Instead of shouting, he picked his words carefully and aimed them at a few different directions.

@musicallymartine
He just kept going🤯 #jayz #rootspicnic #freestyle #rootspicnic2026 #musicallymartine Jay-Z at Roots Picnic Music Festival in Philadelphia, PA (2026)
♬ original sound – Martine✨🎶

Without printing the lyrics, the targets and themes were clear enough. He took aim at artists and moguls who have questioned his legacy or business moves in recent years. There were lines people connected to old Roc‑A‑Fella tensions, pointed shots at streaming‑era stars who built careers in his shadow, and bars that sounded like responses to more recent critiques from peers who’ve used his name for headlines. Fans quickly started connecting the dots to specific figures: former partners who have aired out old grievances, rivals who regularly position themselves in his lane, and a newer generation he seemed to suggest hasn’t earned the right to rewrite his history.

The verse wasn’t just about calling people out; it was also about re‑staking his claim. He wove in reminders about how long his catalog has been active, how much ground it covers and how many rooms it still commands. Within hours, there were threads breaking down who “got it the worst,” debates over whether certain lines were aimed at more than one person and speculation over who might feel pressure to answer on record. It was classic Jay‑Z timing: one verse, dropped in the middle of a festival set, that managed to reset a chunk of the rap conversation without the need for a rollout.

Guests and The Roots turn the stage into a live archive

Roots Picnic has always thrived on collaboration, and Jay‑Z built his set to match that energy. He brought out a rotation of guests who tied directly into both his story and the festival’s Philadelphia roots.

Jazmine Sullivan joined him to blur the lines between his catalog and hers, sliding from his material into her own and turning a festival moment into a hometown celebration. Bilal came out for “No Church in the Wild,” stretching the song into a more open, psychedelic version than the studio cut. There were also appearances from key voices of the Roc‑A‑Fella era — the MCs who helped turn label compilations and posse cuts into core parts of his myth, not just footnotes.

Those guests didn’t feel like nostalgia plays for their own sake. They worked as proof that the collaborations and co‑signs that built his career are still active relationships, not just names in a documentary. In the middle of a set built around Jay‑Z’s story, their verses turned the stage into a live‑action archive of a whole era.

Threading all of this together was the simple fact that Jay‑Z still sounded locked in. Fans and critics who have seen him at different points in his career pointed out how sharp his breath control looked and how easily he slipped back into older flows, even on tracks that date back decades. At 56, he still delivered verses with a snap that made the songs feel alive instead of museum‑piece reverent.

The Roots operated less like a backing band and more like co‑directors. Their arrangements gave staples like “Roc Boys” and “U Don’t Know” extra punch without losing the feel of the originals. Transitions were smooth enough that long‑time fans could hear the connective DNA between eras that might seem separate on paper.

What Jay‑Z Roots Picnic 2026 hints at for his next chapter

By the end of the night, there was no album title flashed on the screens, no surprise drop uploaded mid‑set. Instead, the signals came through the choices: clean up the catalog, revert to the JAŸ‑Z name, accept a high‑stakes festival slot, build a set around depth instead of just nostalgia, invite key collaborators back into the frame and fire off a freestyle sharp enough to become the main recap headline.

For Roots Picnic, his performance delivered exactly what a marquee booking is supposed to: a night people will still be talking about when the next lineup rolls around. For Jay‑Z, it functioned less like a nostalgic victory lap and more like a reminder. When he decides to step back onstage, it still feels like something that stops the room, resets the discourse and makes the rest of the genre pay attention — even if he only chooses to do it once in a while.
