On Sunday, The LSU Tigers destroyed the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 resulting in the program’s first NCAA women’s basketball national championship hosted in Dallas, Texas. The winning team set a record for the most points scored in a NCAA women’s basketball game. This accomplishment was the very thing that gave LSU a 17-point head start.
Jasmine Carson stood out as she went from bench to court, scoring 21 points for her team in the opening half—anyone who has watched the game can’t ignore her flawless five of five on three-pointers.
“Every player dreams of being on a big stage like this and having the game of your life…”
Hall of Fame coach Kim Mulkey was spirited during the game’s last few seconds. It’s only her second year with the Tigers; however, this big win shows her value to the team as she secured LSU’s first women’s basketball championship.
The game was filled with heavy hitters. Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark led all scorers with 30 points, setting a new record for most points scored in a women’s tournament.
