The Los Angeles Lakers handled their business in game six of the 2020 NBA Finals. They beat the Miami Heat 106 to 93 on Sunday October 11th. It was Anthony Davis’ first ring ever, and LeBron’s fourth. This title win makes the Akron, Ohio native the first player in NBA history ever to win championships with three different teams in their career.

At the end of the series, he averaged 29 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Anthony Davis averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. The two of them were simply a joy to watch.

History-Making Highlights from the NBA Finals

There were a number of history-making statistics that occurred during this NBA Finals of 2020. For one thing, the Los Angeles Lakers are now tied with the Boston Celtics for the most NBA titles in history. Both of those teams now have 17 championships, and the way that LeBron and A.D. are playing many of the fans believe that they may do it again next year and go for the most titles of all time.

LeBron also made history by joining the legendary Michael Jordan as the only player with four or more finals MVPs, and four or more regular season MVPs. The vote was unanimous, 11 to 0, to give Lebron the Finals MVP trophy this year.

Another history-making statistic was the fact that LeBron and A.D. were only the second duo ever in NBA history to average 25 points per game on 50% field goals in the same postseason. That had not happened since back in 2002 when Shaquille O’Neal averaged 36.3 points in the finals and Kobe Bryant averaged 26.8 points.

That kind of history making started in game two this year, when together Lebron and A.D. combined for a total of 65 points, 32 for him and 33 for James.

It was the very first time that two Lakers had both scored more than 30 points in the same game in the NBA Finals since Big Brother and Lil’ Brother (Shaq and Kobe) had made it happen in 2002.

“It’s always special to represent someone that meant so much,” Lebron said to reporters after the game that they played in the Black Mamba jerseys that Kobe Bryant designed. “Not only to the game, but also to the Lakers organization for 20-plus years. For us to honor him, being on the floor, this is what it’s all about.”

He also said that he hoped that the Byrant family knew that the team was with them, and that he hoped they were proud that the Lakers had decided to play in those one-of-a-kind jerseys.

Lebron’s Previous NBA Championships

Lebron used to play for the Miami Heat, and won the NBA Championship with them twice, back to back in 2012 and 2013. It was when he sided with Dwayne Wade that he won his very first championship, so playing against his old team in this 2020 NBA Finals no doubt felt nostalgic.

LeBron also won the championship with his home team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, in 2016 when they beat the Golden State Warriors.
