Along with Christopher Wallace (aka The Notorious B.I.G, aka Big Poppa, aka Biggie Smalls) about to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 7th 2020, according to Billboard Magazine Pepsi also just came out with an nice new animated commercial that features a never-before released freestyle he did back in the late 90’s.

BET also reported that the internationally known soda company was working with DJ Enuff and Cey Adams to remaster the freestyle, which is made up of lyrics that Biggie spit about Pepsi back in 1997. One of the first things that may come to mind when his fans associate him with the brand is the movie that was made about his life in 2009 entitled Notorious. The well-loved Brooklyn rapper was played by Jamal Woolard, and there was one scene when Biggie was talking to Lil’ Cease in the studio. “Yo Cease,” he said, “Im’ma need some Pepsi, and some more weed! And some females…tell ‘em we havin’ a party!”

The freestyle they put together for the new 2020 Pepsi commercial has B.I.G. casually spitting how it was his favorite brand. You can tell he’s having fun while rhyming it:

“Nothing can beat the P-E-P-S-I drink it constantly / Something ’bout the taste feels great, less filling / Tell ’em Biggie said drink it all, don’t test me / Nothing else beats a Pepsi / If it is, let’s see/ I’m thirsty…”

Biggie Makes the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The new Biggie Freestyle Pepsi commercial also promotes the fact that he is now going to be inducted into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Although he was shot and killed on March 9th 1997, his music has lived on for over two decades, and fans old and new still love him.

Another person to be admitted into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will be the late R&B legend Whitney Houston, who according to NPR will be the only woman inducted into it this year. It will be the 35th annual inducted class, and will also include Jon Landau, T-Rex, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and The Doobie Brothers.

DJ Enuff and Biggie’s Relationship

Prior to DJ Enuff collaborating with Pepsi for this cool new commercial featuring the 1997 Biggie freestyle, he would always talk about how wonderful his personal relationship with him was. For example, several years ago XXL Magazine did a story where DJ Enuff talked about the most memorable times he had when his friend was alive.

“I got in trouble for playing Biggie’s whole entire album (Ready To Die) on KISS before the release date,” he revealed in the 2004 article entitled In My Life. “By the fifth song, I get a call on the hotline, it’s Puff. He’s cursing me on the phone. I continued to play it until Puff came to the radio station and tried to seize the music from me!”
