America felt the frustration that Chris Wallace, the moderator for the recent Presidential Debate, was beginning to feel as he tried repeatedly to get Donald Trump to stop interrupting everything Joe Biden was trying to say during his turns to speak.

“It’s hard to get any word in with this clown…I’m sorry, person,” Biden responded when Wallace was trying to tell the former Vice-President that it was one of his moments to get the last word in one of the questions.

“Here’s the deal,” the normally calm and collected moderator tried to explain after having to raise his voice to stop Trump from interrupting. “We have six segments. We have ended that (last) segment, we are going to go to the next segment. In that segment, you each are going to have two uninterrupted moments. In those two uninterrupted segments, Mr. President, you can say anything you want…”

Many networks and publications, one being The Washington Post, further explained how Wallace’s experience during the two-hour debate was like a “runaway train”. Directly following the debate, reports indicated how so many Americans were likely frustrated with trying to hear what the two presidential candidate’s solutions to the real issues of race inequality, COVID-19, and the current state of the economy were.

Image from CNN.

Highlights from the 1st Presidential Debate Between Biden and Trump

Some of the best moments during the debate on Joe Biden’s part was when he maintained sticking to the facts as Trump relentlessly attempted to interrupt him. He pointed out exactly how many people were currently dying (and have died) from COVID-19 for example, and made viewers remember how Donald Trump told the public that the Coronavirus would go away on its own earlier in 2020.

Biden also resonated directly with the American people because, several of the times when Trump tried to interrupt Joe from speaking the facts, the former Vice-President would then look straight at the camera as if he was looking the millions of viewers at home in the eye, and talk to them straightforwardly about Coronavirus.

“You folks at home,” Joe began. “How many of you got up this morning, and had an empty chair at the kitchen table, because someone died of COVID? How many of you were in a situation where you lost your mom or dad, and you couldn’t even speak to them? You had a nurse holding a phone up so you could in fact say goodbye…this is the same man who told you that, by Easter, this would be gone by the warm weather, that it would be gone, miraculous, like a miracle…”

Image from ABC News.

Biden went on to reference how when Trump was presented with the number of deaths from the pandemic, he previously responded “It is what it is…” something former First Lady Michelle Obama also had pointed out in her speech at the Democratic National Convention several weeks before.

“Well, ‘it is what it is’,” Biden said, “because you are who you are…”

The debate moderator, Wallace, who is an Anchor for Fox News, then asked Trump would he be willing right then and there to condemn white supremacists and militia groups to stand down, and add to the already horrible violence going on in cities across the United States.

“I’d be willing to do that, but I would say that almost everything I see is from the left wing, not from the right wing. I’m willing to do anything…”

Wallace then gave him the go-ahead to denounce these violent racist groups. “Then do it, sir…”, said the moderator.

Trump asked him what group in particular was it that the moderator wanted him to instruct to stand down, and Wallace said The Proud Boys, who are, according to The New York Times, a violence-advocating, white supremist group who Trump has been denying to denounce since 2016 when he was first elected as President.

“Do it,” Biden also asked Trump to do. “Say it.”

“Proud Boys,” Trump said, “Stand back, and stand by. But I’ll tell you what, somebody’s gotta do something about Antifa and the left, because this is not a right wing problem, this is a left wing problem…”

Image from The Real Deal.

Trump not only refused to denounce the white supremacy organization, but also said how he wouldn’t accept it if he thought the election ballots weren’t accurate. “I’m urging my supporters to go into the polls,” he said, “and watch very carefully, because that’s what has to happen, I am urging them to do it…I hope it’s gonna be a fair election. If it’s a fair election, I am 100% on board, but if I see tens of thousands of ballots being manipulated, I can’t go along with that…”

Trump had also recently (before the presidential debate with Biden) not fully committed to a peaceful transfer of power from president to president.

Reactions to the 1st 2020 Presidential Debate

People are now brainstorming how to make the head-to-head presidential debate better, and Joe Scarborough from MSNBC has one of the best suggestions…to turn off the microphone from a candidate if it’s not their turn to talk. According to The Hill, Scarborough actually parted with the Republican party not long after Donald Trump was elected as Commander-in-Chief, and the host of the popular program “The Morning Joe” tweeted that they should “cut his mic” so that ideas can be communicated more clearly.

This is a colossal waste of the American people’s time. If they are not going to cut his mic so we can have an exchange of ideas, then Biden should not attend any more debates,
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) September 30, 2020

Vice-Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris, who was previously the 32nd Attorney General of the State of California and who Joe Biden chose as his running mate in early August 2020, was asked by CNN does she think that Joe should do another debate with the way Trump acted in this first one. “Joe Biden’s never gonna refuse to talk to the American people,”she said, “and have any opportunity that he can to speak directly to American families, speak about the issues, speak the truth, and address the facts of where we are now.”

Senator Bernie Sanders was another politician to respond to how the presidential debate went. He did so on Jimmy Kimmel’s post debate show. “I think Biden was able to make some very important points tonight,” he said, “while Trump continues to lie in an incredible way.”

Recently, Donald Trump was in the news again, this time in a head-turning report from the New York Times about his non-payment of federal income taxes over the past couple of decades. According to the September 27th report, (which was researched and written by Ross Buettner, Susanne Craig and Mike Mcintrye), Trump paid $750 in 2016 and the same amount again in his first year as President.

But, after The Times was able to retrieve information about his taxes that the public has been in search of for years, it was found that he had not “paid any taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years – largely because he reported losing much more money that he made.”

“We’ve been negotiating for a long time,” Trump said in a briefing shortly after the report was released. “Things get settled like in the IRS, but right now when you’re under audit, you don’t do that. So right now we’re under audit.”

Image from Fortune.

Trump denied giving any exact numbers about what he actually has paid in federal taxes, and feels that the report about his past financial history is only coming up now because of the upcoming election.

Details About Trump’s Income and Taxes

Generally, when the American public thinks of Donald Trump, they know him to be a very rich man. So, when these kinds of reports come about (the New York Times actually went back two decades into his financial history) it is shocking to think that with all the properties, golf courses and such, that him paying taxes would be a problem at all.

Still, as American citizens, we all have the right to know the Commander-in-Chief’s tax history, and it’s just mind blowing how much money Donald

Trump has made over the past couple of decades. According to one CNBC report, with the American reality series that Trump became very popular on called “The Apprentice” (which aired from 2004-2017), he made about $427 million.

Image from Washington Post.

He also made another $176 million with Vornado Buildings. According to their website, the company “owns and operates nearly 20 million feet of prime office properties.” These properties make up about 25% of Trump’s fortune, and The New York Real Estate News reported earlier in the summer of 2020 that they were looking to sell any towers that Trump co-owned. This came about as critics were still pointing out the fact that he may have had trouble “maintaining his business interests while in office.”

When it comes to office retail buildings overall, Trump has reportedly made about $336 million over the years.

Trump’s Business Failures

Much of the money that Trump made he actually put into buying hotels and golf courses, businesses that lost hundreds of millions of dollars over time, according to the recent New York Times report. The losses from those businesses are what he mostly reported to the IRS, and experts feel that was the reason why he was able to get away with not paying taxes for such a long time.

The current IRS audit is based on a refund that Trump received in 2010 of $73 million.

In the past, Donald Trump has shunned the idea of a traditional transfer of power, even way back to the 2016 campaign when he was seemingly joking about it. Now, with the election just over a month away, he was recently asked by a reporter at a news conference how he would respond if he was to lose the election in November.

The question was asked because of the fact that there are many American cities right now that are rioting because of racial killings by police, and most recently because of the decision to only indict one of the three officers involved in the murder of Breonna Taylor, an African-American ER Technician who was killed in her sleep by police bullets in March 2020.

Trump has referred to protesters as “terrorists” according to the New York Times, and supports the National Guard being sent to the cities that are holding large protests. And, he recently refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power after the election.

Trump’s Response to Having a Peaceful Transfer of Power After the Election

The question Trump was asked about having peaceful transfer of power after the election (whatever the results may be in November) was very important to ask with the dangerous rioting going on all over the United States. With him being the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, notably the National Guard, the American public wants to know how he’ll react if he loses in November.

Trump choosing reporters to talk to during the conference where he is refusing to commit to a peaceful transfer of power. Image from NBC News.

The conversation between Trump and the reporter went like this:

REPORTER: Win, lose, or draw in this election, will you commit here today to a peaceful transfer of power? There’s been rioting in Louisville, there’s been rioting in many cities across this country, in both of the so-called red and blue states. Will you commit to making sure that there is a peaceful transferral of power after the election?

TRUMP: Well, we’re gonna have to see what happens. You know that I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots. And the ballots are a disaster.

REPORTER: I understand that. But people are rioting. Do you commit to making sure that there is a peaceful transfer of power?

TRUMP: Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a very peaceful transfer, there won’t be a transfer frankly, there will be a continuation. The ballots are out of control. You know it. And you know who knows it better than anybody else? The democrats know it better than anyone else.

Reactions to Trump Not Committing to a Peaceful Transition of Power

“Fundamental to democracy is the peaceful transition of power; without that, there is Belarus,” tweeted Mitt Romney, a republican who isn’t hesitant when it comes to criticizing Trump. “Any suggestion that a president might not respect this constitutional guarantee is both unthinkable and unacceptable.”

Joe Biden was asked how he felt about Trump’s response. “What country are we in?” he said according to The Hill, then removed his mask so that the reporters could hear him clearer. “I’m being facetious, I said what country are we in?
In an attempt to try and look good before the election, Donald Trump announced a peace treaty agreement on August 13th, 2020 between Israel and the UAE (United Arab Emirates). It’s called “The Abraham Accord”, and anyone can view the official transcript here.

Mr. David Freeman explained why it is named after Abraham at the announcement ceremony when Trump asked him to clarify it to the public. “Thank you Mr. President,” he began, “And congratulations to you on brokering this historic peace agreement. Abraham, as many of you know, was the father of all three great faiths. He’s referred to as Abraham in the Christian faith. Ibrahim in the Muslim faith and Abraham in the Jewish faith. And no person better symbolizes the potential for unity among all these three great faiths than Abraham. And that’s why this accord has been given that name.”

The Abraham Accord Peace Treaty Cover Up

Peace is always a good thing whenever it can actually be accomplished anywhere in the world. And, this treaty, in itself, is a good thing. Still, many are inclined to think that Trump is finally doing something like this now, only because the election is coming up. Some citizen’s feel as if he is trying to have something to campaign with, something good to say about himself, as if he’s some kind of “peacemaker”.

This treaty also helps out the image and reputation of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, whose reputation, according to foreign publications such as The Middle East Monitor, has been in shreds for some time now, just like Trump’s. In fact, the way young people in the U.S. feel about their president (especially the way he has mishandled and/or ignored very serious issues like COVID-19) is the exact same way the young people of Israel feel about Netanyahu.

Why? Because he is doing the exact same thing there.

The ‘Bibi Generation’ in Israel Turns on Netanyahu. 4-minute video from Reuters, posted on YouTube, shows the current state of Israel, and just how similar Trump and he are as leaders.

Just take a look at this 4-minute video from Reuters, published on July 31, 2020, and you’ll see what America will begin to look like if Trump is re-elected, and nothing is done about the current direction our government and society is moving into. Neither him or Netanyahu care about “peace”, and all you have to do is look at what is going on in the streets of both the U.S. and Israel right now with its citizens to see that.

The treaty is a good thing, and it does help relations in those areas of the world. But, the context in which it was done (to paint a false image of themselves to carry out their interior motives), makes these two world leaders, Trump and Netanyahu, look just as fake and manipulative as their citizens have always seen them. And, both societies, Israel and the U.S., are currently suffering severely from their uncaring and selfish ways of leadership.

How the Abraham Accord Peace Treaty Helps Trump and Netanyahu

As American’s, we know first-hand from living here in the U.S. why Trump would need to try and look like a peacemaker right now, just weeks before an election. It’s because his reputation is so messed up that American’s would have to be insane to vote him back in again.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, smiling to the world as if everything is okay in the streets of Israel. Image from the N.Y. Times.

But, when you view the chaos, homelessness, violence and sickness the COVID-19 virus has caused the people of Israel because of their similar-minded leader, Prime Minister Netanyahu, you’ll better understand why this peace treaty that the two of them collaborated on in August, 13th 2020, “The Abraham Accord”, was to pull the blinders over the eyes of people in other parts of the world (outside of the U.S. or Israel) who really don’t look beyond a calm leader speaking on a television screen, who is supposedly representing a country where everything is “just fine”.

Outsiders don’t see directly what is really going on every day in the streets of these nations, specifically the U.S. and Israel, where Trump and Netanyahu have both successfully developed lying to the rest of the world almost into some sickening kind of art form.

In March of 2019, The Associated Press published an article that showed just the types of scandals that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been involved with. For example, in his first term, he and his wife were accused of “pocketing gifts and foreign contributions received from world leaders” as well as “double billing travel expenses and using state funds to cover personal travel in the 2000s”.

Trump announces peace agreement on Aug 13th, 2020. Image from the BL.

In 2016, reports indicated that Netanyahu “spent more than $600,000 of public funds on a six-day trip to New York”, and spent “$127,000 in public funds for a special sleeping cabin on a five-hour flight to London”.

But, the worst of all of his horrible leadership is how he has just chosen to ignore the Coronavirus, and the direct effect that it is having on the people in his country.

On the evening of Monday, August 10th, 2020, there was a shooting incident at the White House. While President Trump was giving a press briefing, a 51-year-old man (whom the Secret Service would not identify immediately to the public) walked up to a Secret Service agent while he was at his post, which was located at the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue N.W. near the White House.

According to CNBC, the man then told the agent that he had a weapon. Then, the guy ran straight at the officer and got into a gun drawing motion, pulling something that looked like a gun from his clothes. Then, he crouched down into a shooting stance (like you would if you were about to fire a weapon). That’s when the Secret Service agent drew his gun, quickly aimed, fired, and hit the guy in the torso.

US President Donald Trump leaves news conference after reports of shooting outside White House https://t.co/VKj77JRawI pic.twitter.com/NLVB70nr2w
— BBC Breaking News (@BBCBreaking) August 10, 2020

While all this was going on, Trump was in a briefing, in the middle of telling reporters and photographers how well the Dow Jones was doing. All of a sudden, he was interrupted by a Secret Service agent in mid-sentence. The agent said something to him in a low voice that the reporters who were listening to Trump couldn’t hear. They both then exited the stage, and are gone for a while.

When they came back, Trump told everybody what happened. “I feel very safe with the Secret Service, they’re fantastic people, they’re the best of the best, they’re highly trained,” he said upon returning to the podium.

One of the reporters asked him if he was scared. “I don’t know, do I seem rattled?”, He calmly replied. “The world has been, you look back over the centuries, the world has been a dangerous place, a very dangerous place.”

And, with that, he went back into his briefing about the current state of the economy.

Initial Thoughts About the White House Shooting on August 10th

When I first read the headline about the White House shooting, I thought somebody was trying to kill the president. I’m sure I’m not alone. To be clear, even with all the negative things Trump has done during his presidency, I myself am a man of God, and I could never bring myself to wish death upon anyone. So, I want to go on record for saying that I’m glad that he’s okay and not injured, and I’m also glad that the Secret Service agents are also safe and well after this shooting incident near the White House grounds.

The scene outside the White House after the shooting. Image from CNBC.

Also, I want to say that this incident didn’t breach the gate of the White House – -t happened right outside of it. And, White House officials finally told reporters several hours later that the man actually didn’t even have a gun, which makes this shooting incident that much more confusing, as to why it happened in the first place, and with trying to figure out what exactly were the 51-year-old man’s motives that evening.

Past Assassinations (and Attempts) to Kill a U.S. President

People may have been worried about something like an assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life, not only because there are a lot of people out there that don’t like him, but also because there was a recent attempt on a U.S. President’s life. It was during Obama’s presidency.

According to The L.A. Times, a guy from Idaho named Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez attempted to assassinate President Obama close to the National Mall, but Barack wasn’t at the White House when Oscar was trying to kill him. He told reporters and arresting police that he thought Barack was “the devil” and that he had to be “taken care of”.

There have been several attempts to kill the president in the past. Some were successful, some were not. Richard Lawrence’s gun misfired when he tried to kill President Andrew Jackson, and although President Theodore Roosevelt survived when he got shot by John Schrank in October of 1912, the bullet actually stayed in his body until he died in his sleep (from a pulmonary embolism) almost seven years later.

Police and Secret Service keeping watch outside the White House after the shooting. Image from the Chicago Tribune.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt must have been fast on his feet when he was speaking in Miami in February of 1933, because he managed to escape alive when Guiseppe Zangara shot at him and missed five times. Then, in November of 1950, a White House policeman got killed when Griselio Torresola tried to kill Harry S. Truman, but the president survived and wasn’t hurt. And, who could forget in February of 1974 when a tire salesman named Samuel Byke tried to steal a plane and crash it into the White House when Richard Nixon was president.

In September of the following year, somebody tried to kill President Gerald Ford, twice. Lynette Fromme tried to shoot him with a pistol on September 5th of 1975, and on the 22nd Sara Jane Moore pulled out a revolver on him. What a bad month for him! Then, in May of 1979, President Jimmy Carter was informed by Secret Service that Raymond Lee Harvey had a pistol with blank rounds on him when the then Commander-in-Chief was just about to give a speech in California.

President Ronald Reagan got wounded in March of 1981 when John Hinckley Jr. started busting caps at the president and his people in Washington outside of a hotel. A little over a decade later in April of 1993, George H.W. Bush got lucky when those Kuwaiti officials discovered that there was a car bomb that was meant for him. Then, much later on, an accountant named Robert Pickett tried to kill his son, George W., Bush, in February of 2001, when he started shooting a gun at the White House with the President inside.

A Secret Service Agent whispers to Trump about the shooting that had just occurred outside the White House on Aug. 10th 2020. Image from Task & Purpose.

Osama bin laden tried to kill Bill Clinton in November of 1996, also with a bomb. But, the Secret Service was able to dodge it as they maneuvered the president’s motorcade successfully out of the way and into a different direction.

The presidents who were actually killed in an assassination attempt were Abraham Lincoln (when he got shot by John Wilkes), James A. Garfield (when he was also shot, by Charles Guiteai), William McKinley when he was shot by Leon Czolgosz (which was actually the shooting that prompted the Secret Service to start taking over protecting the president’s life), and John F. Kennedy when Lee Harvey Oswald shot him in November of 1963.

.

On August 8th 2020, President Trump signed four executive orders challenging congress’s authority. All of these actions had to do with pandemic relief, but when it comes to the White House and Congress, there are certain boundaries of power that the president is supposed to respect.

Supposed to respect. But this is Donald Trump we’re talking about here.

Now, I admit. At first listen, it sounded like what he was doing was a noble thing, and that he was really going to try to help people who are struggling. But, by the time I looked at all the details and facts, I realized that he was just the same old Trump.

The Scene at Trump’s Executive Order Signing Event

The location was the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, and the atmosphere that day had the simultaneous feeling of both a campaign rally and a signing ceremony. As Trump addressed the audience, he bashed the Democrats every chance he got.

A shot of the club house at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Image from Eventective.

For example, the President declared that the Democrats didn’t want to do anything to help people not get evicted from their homes because of lack of money during the coronavirus pandemic. CNN’s Fact Checker, Daniel Dale, later said in a report immediately following Trump’s remarks that “There was a lot of lying, frankly, and most of it was about Democrats…” Daniel also pointed out that Democrats had actually “proposed rental assistance for tenants”.

SMDH.

The 4 Executive Orders That Trump Signed

The first executive order that Trump signed he said that he was signing because the Democrats couldn’t come up with a decision about how much money they wanted to give Americans for enhanced unemployment benefits. So, he said that he decided to take it upon himself to come up with a concrete number. That number was $400 in continued unemployment benefits each week.

The thing is, a reporter asked him why was it now $400 when people were previously getting $600, and did he think that would be even more financial hardship for them? Also, I found out that the $400 was only 75% Federal money, and it was up to the states to issue the other hundred to its citizens.

The pretty CNN Correspondent Kristen Holmes. Image from Everipedia.

Kristen Holmes, the nice-looking Correspondent at CNN, said that she called a state official and told him what Trump said, and the person just laughed. They told her that they were depending on the federal government for money as it is, and that they just can’t do it because they don’t have the funds to issue that other $100.

Another executive order that Trumped signed was for a payroll tax holiday for all American citizens who make less than $100,000 a year. This was another one that had Kristen confused. And, by the look on her face when she was making the report on CNN that followed Trump’s signing event, you can tell that she was genuinely puzzled.

So where we, Kristen. So where we.

The issue with the payroll tax holiday is that it’s hard to understand because it’s unknown whether or not folks I have to pay it back later on or not. Trump said that if he’s elected back into office, that he would, in the word Kristen used, “dissolve” folks from having to pay it back.

The folks at CNN didn’t know how to interpret that and I sure as hell don’t either. All I know is that one of the definitions of the word “dissolve” according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “to separate into component parts”. It generally means to “destroy” or “disintegrate”, but a company can be “dissolved” into smaller units, which is the example sentence the dictionary actually gives to exercise the use of the word.

Trump speaking with reporters after signing the executive orders. Image from Time Magazine.

Given Trump’s track record of lying all the time, I’m inclined to think that he use that middle definition and is planning to make people pay those taxes back, just with smaller payments. But they would actually have to pay it back. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Another order he signed was one for deferring student loan payments. He had said that they’d eliminated all interest towards student loan payments earlier in 2020, and that what he was signing would extend the time frame in which students would have to start back paying on those payments. That executive order he signed seemed like it was pretty good one. I myself have student loan debt, so that one I personally appreciate, even if it does challenge Congress’s authority.

Finally, the last order he signed was for the Department of Housing and Urban development to not evict renters, because of how the coronavirus pandemic has had everybody out of work, and people not having enough money to pay rent and such. The order is also supposed to make them provide financial assistance to struggling renters, such as myself. I feel like this is a pretty cool one, too. It would have been even cooler if he wouldn’t have tried to lie on the Democrats, like I mentioned a few paragraphs ago.

All in all we’re just going to have to wait and see what happens. Because, with Trump, there’s really no telling man.
