Rod Wave has recently been arrested and charged with battery in Florida.The artist was arrested this morning of May 2nd on a felony charge that involved battery by strangulation and remains in custody in the St. Petersburg Police Department. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Amanda Sinni informed the Tampa Bay Times that he was arrested on a warrant deriving out of Osceola County. According to his arrest testimony from the St. Petersburg Police Department, Green was detained during a traffic stop at 5119 Venetian Boulevard NE on Sunday night. The rapper was riding in the passenger seat of a 2021 Grey Dodge Durango. The charge carries a hefty maximum sentence of five years, five years of probation, and a $5,000 fine in Florida. Online jail records show St. Petersburg police arrested him just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday. He was booked after midnight on Monday.

Although the St. Petersburg rapper was quiet since releasing Soulfly, he has kept his name alive with a few new singles, including “Nirvana” and “Cold December,” his first single of 2022. Last December, Rod Wave had fans worried after he released “Nirvana” due to disturbing lyrics linked to self-harm. However, shortly after he deactivated his social media accounts, he later apologized and set the record straight on his headspace.
