Donald Trump has done a 180 degree turn, and recently instructed his team to call off talks of a stimulus with Democrats. “I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major stimulus bill that focuses on hard working Americans and small businesses,” he tweeted.
Reports indicate that a stimulus package is “on the sidelines” but that the White House is instead more willing to move forward with “smaller, individual deals”. Many feel that Trump is literally “dangling a check” in the face of the American people, according to NBC News, in the wake of the upcoming election, and that his mental health may currently be at risk due to steroid medication for his recent contraction of the Coronavirus.

According to USA Today, in a conference call with Democrats on the afternoon of Tuesday October 6th 2020, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, said that the steroids that Trump is taking for his COVID-19 diagnosis may in fact be affecting his judgement, and may be part of the reason why he so abruptly reversed his course on a stimulus. “I don’t know why the president is doing this,” she said according to Bloomberg Quick Take Now, “but I don’t know why the president does much…it’s most unfortunate.”
“And we will have a stimulus bill,” Pelosi went on to say. “And he won’t win the election, so we don’t have to wait on that to happen…just look at what we’ve been through in just the past few weeks with losing our beloved Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and then moving quickly to nominations so that they could overturn the Affordable Care Act, then the book talking about how the president knew this was airborne, and wanting to keep this from the public, and then the president’s taxes…and then all of a sudden he’s infected by the Coronavirus…then he comes out of the hospital and says ‘turn off the negotiations’. So, you just never know what’s coming next…four weeks from now we’re going to have a new President of the United States, we have to make sure that happens…and the president says that after he wins the election then he’ll create a new bill. Oh yeah? Well what election will that be?”

John Brennan, former CIA Director and National Security Advisor to President Obama, is who wrote the book that Pelosi is referring to entitled Undaunted: My Fight Against American Enemies at Home and Abroad (a memoir that he says Trump blocked his access to records to write according to MSN. Brennan also feels that the medications Trump is taking may be affecting his judgement.
“Well, I do hope that Donald Trump has a full recovery, a speedy recovery” he said in an Today interview, “I do believe that the American people need two healthy candidates in this election so that the will of the American people can be realized. I am concerned about the reported side effects of some of the medications that he’s been taking in terms of additional confusion, aggression, impulsiveness…the last thing we need is for Donald Trump to be more confused, more impulsive, more aggressive…”
