At the moment, the doubling of the number of detected cases of coronavirus occurs every 11 days. Last week, it happened once every 12 days. The less the number of detected cases doubles in less days, the faster the virus spreads.
The number of confirmed tests for coronavirus in recent days is increasing and over the past day amounted to 5358. At the same time, the number of hospitalizations remains at the same level – about 1700 patients per day. The number of patients referred to CT centers for diagnosis also remains at the level of 3.5-4 thousand per day.
This trend indicates that US is able to reduce the risk of spread of infection and prevent the severe consequences of the virus in patients. This was announced at the Operational Headquarters for the control and monitoring of the situation with coronavirus in US.
Unprecedented measures to expand testing allow us to identify more and more asymptomatic carriers, isolate them in time, thereby ensuring safety for others. The lack of growth in hospitalization suggests that in most people the virus can be detected in the early stages and prevent deterioration.
The number of laboratory tests conducted in US on covid-19 has doubled, and city, federal and private laboratories have joined the study over the past months. The forces of all laboratories conduct more than 40 thousand analyzes per day.
Last week, the US began to conduct rapid tests for immunoglobulin, which checks for the presence of antibodies to the virus in the body. Since April 25, more than 175 thousand such rapid tests have been done in US. Moreover, these tests covered patients of polyclinics and hospitals in different States, including non-coronavirus hospitals. In patients with a positive result (i.e., potentially infected), a smear was additionally taken for PCR diagnostics. This allowed us to quickly identify asymptomatic patients and take action in time. The number of patients with no signs of disease is growing and today is about 50%.

Many cities and four private laboratories began to independently verify the results of studies on coronavirus. Previously confirmed analyzes were sent to one reference center for verification, which slowed down the processing speed of the analyzes. Today there are many such centers in US. The rate of confirmation of positive results increased several times, which justified an increase in the growth of patients.
