As mass shootings continue, America sees bloodshed on a large scale. Three individuals were killed and another wounded when a gunman decided to open fire at a manufacturing facility in western Maryland Thursday afternoon. In addition, a state trooper endured a one-on-one shootout with the culprit near Mapleville Road.
The officer suffered an injury along with the suspect, who was also injured and taken to a hospital.
Authorities confirmed the age of the 23-year-old man. The West Virginia \a native remained in the hospital late and has not yet been charged.
A semi-automatic handgun was used for the attack. The motive for the shooting is still unclear.
A former employer killed Mark Alan Frey, Charles Edward Minnick, and Joshua Robert Wallace at Columbia Machine, Inc.
The second shooting happened on Bikle Road in Smithsburg, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office expressed. Brandon Chase Michael, 42, was injured and remained hospitalized along with the shooter and the trooper.The trooper is doing well according to sources.
Smithsburg is about 75 miles west of Baltimore. It is about 100 miles from the border with West Virginia, where the suspect lives, according to the sheriff.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office handled the mass shooting while Maryland State Police investigated the after shooting with the suspect and the official.
