Frank R. James was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly shooting ten people in a Brooklyn subway station yesterday. According to multiple news outlets, A called-in tip to Crime Stoppers led to the suspects’ arrest, citing law enforcement sources.
James allegedly called authorities saying he was at a McDonald’s near 6th Street and First Avenue in Manhattan.
Two blocks away from McDonald’s, The New York Police Department arrested James at St. Mark’s Place and First Avenue.
The tip ended a search party involving hundreds of police officers following the shooting.
Police say James fired two smoke grenades and blasted 33 shots aboard an N train car. Hospitals documented 29 people treated for gunshot wounds, smoke inhalation, or other injuries. Investigators feel as if James drove to New York City from Philadelphia in a rented U-Haul van, departing the key at the crime scene and some unused smoke grenades, a gun, and clothing items. James’ motive is unknown, but a YouTube channel that appeared to belong to James held numerous videos of him going on bizarre, profanity-filled rants against much of society. YouTube deleted the channel Wednesday.
