Oscar and Emmy holder Viola Davis is taking woman empowerment to a whole other level in the new powerful trailer for “The Woman King,” The movie follows A historical storyline motivated by actual events in history for The Kingdom of Dahomey. The kingdom was one of the most powerful states of Africa during the 18th through 19th centuries.
The film concentrates on General Nanisca of the Dahomey Amazons, an all-female military division of the Dahomey and Nawi, as she recruits and trains warriors for victory. The movie shows how the warriors fought off enemies who enslaved their people and threatened to destroy everything they had lived and worked for.
Davis stars as General Nanisca in the film, along with co-stars such as John Boyega, Lashana Lynch, and Thuso Mbedu.
“The Woman King,” tells “an unforgettable story of the Agojie, the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom.
Boyega is a king in the flick who is forced to deploy his most trusted general.
Gina Prince-Bythewood directs the film. Bythewood is a film director and screenwriter known for producing classic movies such as Love & Basketball in 2000, The Secret Life of Bees in 2008, and more. “The Woman King” Premieres this September 16 to 2022.
